Hi there! Hope you don't mind too much if I mention the eurogoth
community here - it aims to explore Goth and European culture as well as give practical info about travel and living in Europe from a Goth perspective. The touristy bits and daily life between gigs - sort of a niche community, so to speak, which may be why I am doing most of the posting at the moment! Feel free to join and post about your life as a European Goth - especially now with WGT approaching!

Hello there! Just to let you know that I've created a new community mera_luna_uk
specifically for UK types heading over to Germany this year.
I don't want to tread on any toes but it seemed a sensible thing to do so we could all share information about booking flights and tickets and that sort of stuff (and because I did it before I found this community - d'oh!).

Hi. I've come out of temporary LJ hibernation to give a few European festival dates for next year that may or may not be of interest to the community.
Inferno Metal festival, Oslo, Norway - 13th-15th April.
Wave Gotik Treffen, Leipzig, Germany - 2nd-5th June.
Wacken Open Air, Wacken, Germany - 3rd-5th August. (In Extremo and Subway to Sally already confirmed!)
M'era Luna, Hildesheim, Germany - 12th-13th August.
I don't currently have dates for Castly Party in Poland, although it is usually around the last weekend in July...
So who is intersted in going where? I think I'll be at Wacken and M'era Luna again, and travelling in Germany in between like I did this year. I also have friends who haven't been to either that have expressed a strong interest in going to these festivals. Not sure about the others. I mentioned the Norwegian festival as it is one country that I've always wanted to visit and the festival also takes place at Easter, but I'll probably wait for the line up before I decide further. Mera Luna Info
The camping aspect of Mera Luna (and the outdoor open'ness) has always put me off that festival, not that i dont like camping, i just dont like the idea of camping on an air strip? in the open with no where to shade.
Is it fesible to be able to stay at a hotel or a b+b near the festival site? I noticed that somebody said that they were staying at a guest house this year? I was always under the impression that the festival was held on an air strip?, and there wasnt really any facilities near by?.... i hope you can all prove me wrong, and tell me how great the festival is for accessiblity etc as i have always wanted to go, but always preffered WGT, for its versatility.

Firstly, an apology. I won't be camping at M'era Luna this year. We've sorted out a rather innovative travel arrangement, but a side-effect is that we won't be arriving on-site until the first band on Saturday morning. There's no way I'm going to be able to set up camp and get settled in time, so I'll be in the Gasthaus on this occassion.
However, I do have a friend (not really internet active) who still wants to join Camp Victory, and she's looking for someone to travel to the site with. Is there anyone who is travelling to M'era Luna and would appreciate the company of someone new? Any method of travel is OK.
This does sound a little awkward, but I still want to help her out as she can't travel with us (for various complicated reasons).

The band timetable has been announced and can be found on www.meraluna.de . Personally I have been screwed on Sunday afternoon as so many of the bands that I had wanted to see: Lacuna Coil, Zeraphine, Flesh Field and Melotron are appearing at the same time over the two stages and so will have to start to work out which of these are more important and not only to me, but to my lovely camping partner to, as it is her first time at the festival and doesn't want to be left alone too long.
Whilst I'm babbling, in walking distance/time, how close is the nearest supermarket/food shop (for bread, milk tea bags etc)? Last time I was at the festival I solely stayed on the campsite, however, the cups of tea were appallinmg and am going to need to make my own. So it would be nice on the first day to set-up tent and then go to supermarket, is this feasible?

Obligatory Newbie Post
I'm Geth a friend of glenndm
from university. I may have met some of you at M'era Luna 2003 as I was there and bumped into Glenn who introduced me to some people he knew. Anyway, I am returning to Hildesheim this summer with my lovely girly crimsonregret__
and would be very grateful to be in a camping group with friendly people, and Glenn kindly pointed me in this direction.
Very excited about this year's line-up which I think is rather excellent even though I was a bit apprehensive at first. Well anyway, hope we can make arrangements and I can meet you all. Current Mood: sleepy

Hi. Bigger names are starting to be announced for M'era Luna now. VNV Nation and Lacuna Coil have just been confirmed...I Remember Lacuna Coil have pulled out of both M'era Luna and Wave Gotik Treffen in the past but I'm hoping they won't do this time. :)
